The Registry of Data Standards

To enhance data interoperability in e-government services, project teams are recommended to maximize the reuse of information models. One way to enhance the reusability of information models is to conduct data alignment concertedly for data elements that have potential for reuse across bureaux / departments (B/Ds).

This Registry of Data Standards facilitates access to the concertedly aligned data elements, presented as information models together with the corresponding XML schemas (collectively referred as Common Schemas).

Projects that use XML for data exchange may copy the relevant XML schemas into their Project Registries for further refinement as Project Schemas. For projects that use other message formats (such as UN/EDIFACT) for data exchange, project teams are recommended to adopt the concertedly aligned information models and bind them with the relevant message format.

For more information on XML Schema Design and Management, please refer to the XML Schema Design and Management Guide promulgated on the HKSARG Interoperability Framework Web Site (http://www.ogcio.gov.hk/eng/infra/eif.htm).
